College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)

UT Tyler currently assesses CLEP examinations to award credit for course equivalencies. The UT Tyler Testing Center offers students the opportunity to complete specific CLEP examinations on the UT Tyler campus. Students who have taken a CLEP exam elsewhere that has not been assessed and posted for credit must provide official score reports to UT Tyler to have their examination scores assessed for credit.

Senior-level students who plan to complete CLEP examinations toward their degree during their semester of graduation should be aware that receipt of CLEP results are subject to the same deadlines as outstanding transcripts for credits complete at other institutions. Failure to meet these deadlines will result in denial of graduation, so students should review the graduation website thoroughly.

UT Tyler only accepts the following CLEP examinations listed in the following chart.

** For students with a score of 70 or higher on the Biology CLEP exam, the default award will be 6 credit hours of BIOL 1301 and 1302. However, students may request to substitute 3 credit hours of their BIOL 1306 or 1307, if those courses better fit their degree plan; this option requires the approval of the student’s academic advisor.
