COMD 3318 Language Acquisition and Development

This course examines theories and processes of typical language development, with emphasis on early childhood. Students will learn about the typical trajectory of language acquisition and development in children, including the biological, cognitive, social, and environmental factors which enable infants and young children to acquire and use language. We will also discuss the basic components of language, including phonology, morphology, syntax, lexical development/semantics, and pragmatics.
