HPEM 5365 Rural Healthcare Delivery

This course addresses the unique challenges and opportunities of delivering healthcare in rural settings. Students will study the structural, financial, and workforce issues that affect rural healthcare organizations, as well as policy frameworks and community-based approaches to improving access and quality of care. Topics include rural hospital management, telehealth innovations, critical access designation, provider shortages, and the role of community partnerships in advancing rural health outcomes. Special attention is given to the intersection of health equity, cultural competence, and economic development in rural communities. Students will apply management and leadership strategies to develop solutions tailored to the distinct needs of rural populations.
