CRIJ 5342 Vulnerable Populations in Criminal Justice
This course provides an advanced examination of criminal justice populations that require specialized management, intervention, and policy considerations. Graduate students will critically analyze evidence-based practices in policing, courts, and corrections as they relate to individuals across diverse age groups, genders, abilities, and social circumstances. Emphasis is placed on evaluating how agency procedures, training standards, and legal mandates influence outcomes for these groups.
Graduate Students will assume a leadership and analytical perspective by assessing current programs, identifying implementation challenges, and formulating research-informed recommendations to improve professional practice. The course integrates applied case studies, policy evaluation, and organizational analysis to prepare students for supervisory, administrative, and research roles within justice and human service systems.
