Concurrent ADN-BSN Track: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
Dr. Eva Blight, ADN-BSN Coordinator
The concurrent Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)/ Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN) is designed for motivated students currently enrolled in an accredited ADN program as an alternative to the generic BSN. Students complete 30 hours of BSN level coursework at the same time they are enrolled in ADN courses. For students seeking to graduate with Latin honors, an additional 15 SCH must be taken to meet the University requirement of completing 45 SCH at UT Tyler (see graduation with Latin honors requirements).
Requirements
To be considered for the concurrent enrollment track, applicants must (1) be accepted by an accredited ADN program; (2) meet requirements and be accepted for admission at UT Tyler; and (3) have completed all Core Curriculum and BSN pre-requisite required courses. Application is made at the same time a student is accepted into an ADN program.
The student must also provide her/his own transportation to all required clinical and course activities. Driving distances will vary; clinical assignments will be based on availability of learning experiences.
Courses taken at UT Tyler are offered primarily online to accommodate the class schedules of the ADN program. Individual plans vary depending on the student’s ADN program and will be determined jointly by advisors at the ADN program and UT Tyler SON advising office.
