Materials Science and Engineering Minor

A Minor in Materials Science & Engineering is available to students who complete 18 credit hours of approved coursework with a minimum grade of C in all courses. The minor is designed to provide foundational knowledge of the relationships among material structure, properties, processing, and performance, integrating coursework from both the Chemical Engineering and Chemistry disciplines. To satisfy the minor, students must complete materials-focused coursework from approved lists in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. This minor strengthens students’ understanding of metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, and modern functional materials, and complements majors in science and engineering fields seeking broader technical competency in materials-related applications.
