Genomics and Bioinformatics Certificate

The Genomics and Bioinformatics Certificate provides students who major in biology or biology-related fields a solid plan to enhance their knowledge and skills in genomics and bioinformatics, as genomics and bioinformatics are critical in biological research and industry nowadays. The training plan includes the knowledge of omics approaches in biology, the understanding of statistical and quantitative frameworks, the familiarity of trending programming languages, and the proficiency of using large-scale biological databases.

Requirements

In total, at least 24 semester credit hours are needed for the required courses for the certificate and the pre-requisite courses. The pre-requisite courses are 8 credit hours. The required courses for the certificate are at least 16 credit hours from the list. In the Independent Study course, students should work with a faculty member on a project with an emphasis on genomics or bioinformatics.
